“Timeless Classic Stylish Vintage Resort” – Such a beautiful spot in amazing nature, set in beautiful tropical gardens with a meandering river and a magical beach this us so classic 50’s style resort hotel with wonderful original vintage design. A great powder sand beach in a natural beauty spot.  Lotus005

“Far Out Time at Frenchman’s Cove” – This place, simply put, is Magical. The river meets the sea right in this cove. A tributary of the Rio Grande meanders through the property and enters the sea at a small sandy beach. The mixture of the cold river water and the warm sea water is a great sensation to behold.   Ben Neece

“Favourite location in Portland” – Absolutely beautiful cove, lovely blue water, white sand beach. Clean facilities, great food. When in Portland you must visit Frenchman’s Cove!! My all time favorite location in Portland, nicest beach, and great views. Be sure to capture the sight with some breathtaking pictures.  Nardia A

“Visit for Wedding” – My brother booked the old resort for his wedding. We had a wonderful weekend and a lot of fun. The nostalgic resort shows clearly the age and needs a lot of work and investments. However, the villas are specious and very charming.  Alex F

“One of My Favourite Places” – It’s virtually impossible to argue with the peace, tranquility and sheer beauty that is Frenchman’s Cove. We stayed in the Great House and the room was very comfortable and clean with a little balcony that opened onto the gardens, such a serene spot to welcome the day and listen to the rain in the early morning.  J Nelson

“For true beauty and relaxation…visit here” – While living in Jamaica, I decided to visit Frenchman’s cover, so I rented one of the villas. They have two rates, one for locals and another for non-Jamaicans (substantially higher). Upon arrival, I realized that the place belonged to the 1960’s and everything had stopped there, including cleaning of the property. I would never return there….such a filthy place!  Rawad T

“Paradise” – I’ve just returned from my ninth visit to Frenchman’s Cove…I organise conferences there every February…. I think it’s the most beautiful place I know. The grounds, river, beach, cliffs, lush vegetation and wildlife are stunning. The villas are a bit dated, but spacious and the views spectacular.  The Granny

“A great Retreat” – We loved the Resort – Simple and Basic – The views and The Nature around was amazing. Adrian Whitehead

If you want to escape to a magical place, this is it! Perfect for the whole family, Frenchman’s has a cool river and the warm Caribbean Sea. The food is good but be prepared to wait for it since it is made to order and the kitchen can be overwhelmed on busy days. I’ve not stayed in the accommodations, only spent the most heavenly days on the beach.  Gina Harrison

The place is to die for. I see reviews about the rooms. I would advise to stay at the villa instead. I got a very large villa nice amenities view of the ocean woke up to the sounds of the ocean. Private. Friendly staff. Views beautiful. Loved it.   Jacinth Mighty

Iconic Jamaican beachscape. Great scenery, food and company.  Marc Thomas

I have stayed at Frenchman’s Cove numerous times, with a group that holds meetings there. The setting is delightful for casual meetings and gatherings such as yoga retreats, with an open-air “room” that provides a backdrop of birds and jungle foliage. You can stay in a separate villa or in a room in the Great House. The area around Port Antonio has various interesting local restaurants as well as an open marketplace.  Lucy Freedman

Cant speak for the resort however the beach was great, even had the added amenity of free wi-fi for those wishing to share pictures while playing in the sand.  Ramon Lewis

Lovely view, great water, ultimate relaxation.  Izzie Minaje

I have never seen beauty and paradise coupled with peacefulness and privacy until I stayed at Frenchmen’s cove. I was there for my birthday and it was AMAZING. When we first arrived I was confused if we were at a resort or I was going to someone’s house. I had my own car and it was kind of a weird feeling driving up to the gate where there was a guard. I thought we were in the wrong place. I actually turned around thinking I was at someone’s house lol. But that’s the privacy of the cove that you don’t see until your all the way in. The guard is very friendly even though we drove up slowly the second time. He directed us to the registration house and I was still confused if this was a good place to stay till I say the 3D map of the property and I was speechless. My room was in the Great House and it was a bit out dated but that was NOT important. I was there for everything outside. That morning the breakfast was in true island tradition with the amazing blue mountain coffee, the freshly made cheese, the array of tasty fruits, homemade bread, and a beautiful quite view. The beach is out of some movie setting and the small river that runs from the mountains into the ocean is magnificent. The fish swimming from the ocean to river fighting the current is something to just quietly watch and admire. It is truly the place to relax and be. Next time I go I will choose a villa. Best place ever. You will not be disappointed once you step outside. I saw some of the villas and some were updated and some are not. But the views are amazing and the privacy is the best part. By the way I am from Southern California and I live in the Chicago area. Tiffany Gil

BEST PLACE EVER!!!!! I know other people on the review remarked about the out dated furniture and rooms, yes they are out dated. BUT if you are on vacation in paradise with one of the most beautiful private beaches steps away. WHY would you even stay in your room any longer than the time to wake up and put on your swim suit and run to a tranquil relaxing beach. ANYWAYS, we stayed only for 1 night as we were driving from side of the island to the other taking in our own sites and views. It is remarkable in the hidden beauty that you see. The staff is wonderful giving you full privacy and only speaking to you when needed. When its time to relax it is the most peaceful place on EARTH. The breakfast is wholesome and filling. The Red Snapper fish dinner is wonderful. With a beautiful view of the ocean. They give you the whole fish. Its not small portions or diet food. When you stay there it is like your very own private paradise. We love it and we will be back very soon. Great place for family, Awesome for couples wanting privacy, and quite for the single traveler. If you want true peace and quite this is the place to be. Mariusz Gil
